“About Me” pages always seem a little narcissistic, don’t you think? Here I am, answering a bunch of questions that no one is really asking, in an effort to save someone the trouble later on of saying, “who is this guy?” For that, I’ll start by giving a short bio.
My name is Brady Cook, and I have been serving as a local evangelist for nearly ten years. Before that, I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX (Axe ’em Jacks!) with a degree in Marketing. Most recently, I earned a Masters of Science degree in History from Texas A&M University – Commerce in May of 2017. I have been fortunate to preach at a local Church of Christ near Dallas, TX since September of 2009.
Second only to the day I was baptized into Jesus Christ is the day I met my now wife, Melina (Turnbow) Cook, whom I married May 25, 2013. We have one amazing-yet-super-hyperactive son named Logan Mitchell, and our first daughter, Hannah Raelynn, was born in April, 2017. And no, I haven’t slept in years.
Now for some other questions I receive semi-regularly:
What do you believe?
I believe that I am a sinner saved by the grace of God, no arguments there. But I also believe that obedience to God through the infallible words written in the Bible is absolutely necessary to salvation. I reject outright the doctrine of original sin, as well as the five (or six, or four, or whatever the number is now) central points of Calvinism.
The forgiveness of my sins came at the cross, but I must be baptized into His death and remain faithful to Him (Rom. 6:3-5; Gal. 3:27; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 22:16; Matt. 28:19; Col. 2:12-13; Acts 8:12, 38; Titus 3:5; John 3:5; Matt. 3:13-16; James 2:18-20). I am not earning anything by my obedience, but I am fulfilling the commandments of God laid out through His Word (Luke 17:7-10; John 14:15; John 15:14; 1 John – ALL).
I’ve written a book. Will you review it on your site?
Sure! I love free books. And I love reading. And I love giving my opinion on the free books that I read. Also, I love connecting with other people who love writing, so feel free to send it to me at brady@coffeeandaBible.com, and I’ll check it out!
Are there affiliate links on this site?
Ok, so maybe I don’t get this question a ton, but I still have to make a statement somewhere that says yes, CoffeeandaBible.com is a part of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program serving Amazon.com.
